This page will help you get familiar with my commission process, before submitting the contact form.

I encourage clients to take a look at my portfolio of work, which includes the available work listed on my website and a more complete portfolio of all past work on my Instagram account at @wandering.human.creative. This helps clients to get a sense of my style, what they enjoy, and whether my artistic style is a good match for their creative goals.

A few things that I don’t do are portraiture (yes even in my more abstracted style), pet portraiture, characters, fan art, and generally anything that is highly representational.

If you’re not sure your project is the right fit, please always feel free to ask!

commissions

step 1

To begin the commission process, you’ll complete the contact form with a description of what you are looking for, and your budget for the project.

It is helpful to note any examples of my work that you like and specific design elements that you are drawn to, specific colors you have in mind, or any other relevant details that would help me understand your desired outcome.

step 2

I’ll typically respond within a few business days, and we will chat over email about the project. (check your spam folders!)

I’ll ask more clarifying questions to better understand your desired outcomes. And at this stage it will be helpful to include any reference photos that inspired the request, or screenshots of my work and the things you are most drawn to aesthetically

step 3

Once we are aligned on some general goals for the project I will draw up a few sketches. Keep in mind these will be very loose sketches that primarily demonstrate proposed compositions. We can rework these sketches as needed, but if significant revision or additional labor is required we will discuss a rate for additional drafts before proceeding.

step 4

When we land on a sketch that you feel good about, and have the details sorted in terms of size, color scheme, cost, and timeline, I will send over a project proposal and the first invoice through Squarespace.

25% of the total cost is due up front. This let’s both of us feel good about commitment to the project, so I can get started on the work!

step 5

I complete the work, and can be in touch with progress updates as I move through the project. You get to decide whether you’d like to see photos of the finished work before I ship it out, or wait to be surprised! I do not post in-progress content of commissions on social media prior to the client receiving the finished piece.

You’ll be invoiced through Squarespace for the remaining 75%, plus the cost of shipping (typically $13-20 for unframed work via USPS priority mail) once the project is complete, and prior to shipping it out. Then your finished painting will be on its way to you, yay!
